CRITERIA FOR RECOGNITION AS A BREASTFEEDING FRIENDLY
WORKPLACE:
1. There is a clean, private, lighted, comfortable room (not a bathroom)
with an electrical outlet. This room is to be used for breastfeeding a
baby or pumping breastmilk.
2. This room has a comfortable chair, table, and wastebasket.
3. A sink, soap, and paper towels are close by.
4. There is a nearby refrigerator or storage space for a small cooler.
5. Employer allows two breaks and a lunch period during an 8-hour workday
for expressing milk or breastfeeding the baby.
6. The company’s breastfeeding support policy is communicated to
all employees, especially pregnant employees.
7. The company fosters positive support and an accepting attitude toward
breastfeeding employees at all levels of management and staffing.
